Cornwall Colour

When old friends Baz and Maureen suggested a trip to Penzance to help them get ready for an exhibition at Morvah Schoolhouse Gallery, we were happy to oblige! Cornwall is always a visual treat – even on overcast days. Gwithian is popular with surfers and dog walkers and has a café selling hot food and drinks. Penzance  has changed over the years but survives – with new businesses springing up in empty premises.

We visited St.Ives and the Tate Gallery. The current exhibition features work from The Casablanca Art School where staff and students integrated Abstract Art with Arab and Berber traditions creating a social and cultural uprising. I thought the folded green fabric draped over headstones, a tribute in remembrance of people who were killed during the earthquake in Turkey and Syria on 6th February 2023 was powerful.
