Another Escape to Penzance

After a long drive to Penzance to stay with friends, an evening walk along the Promenade was perfect timing. Gwithian Towans, popular with surfers now has a beach café. Nearby Hayle has an eclectic mix of shops and from a Newlyn hill there are harbour views with Penzance in the distance. Trewidden Garden has huge tree ferns, unusual plants and shaded walks. More surfers were at Sennen Cove and charity fundraisers were walking along the beach. An early evening drink at Praa Sands was welcome. We walked from Penzance through fields and back through a housing estate where a yellow Mercedes painted on van doors stood out. Penzance is constantly changing with entrepreneurs trying new ventures. Torrential rain didn’t deter us from visiting the Old Coastguard Hotel in Mousehole on our last night. Saying goodbye to old friends who live so far away is hard, but hopefully we will all meet up again next year!
