Budapest 2025

Six days in Budapest to celebrate two friends’ birthdays was a welcome treat. We walked for hours every day as it is an easy city to wander around. It has great architecture, friendly people, clean streets and trees and plants everywhere. The House of Parliament on the banks of the Danube has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987. There are lovely views on both the Buda and Pest sides of the river and the Chain Bridge with Stone Lions looks out over the Danube. We took a Hop on/ hop off Buda Castle Bus Ride up to the Fisherman’s Bastion, with views over the city. On Sunday’s traditional Hungarian hussars march around the barracks. It’s easy to see why Budapest won the European Best Destination award in 2019.
